MAX7456EUI+

The MAX7456EUI+ is a single-channel monochrome on-screen display (OSD) generator designed by Analog Devices (formerly Maxim Integrated). This IC simplifies system design by eliminating the need for external video drivers, sync separators, video switches, and EEPROMs. It is compatible with both NTSC and PAL standards and can display up to 256 user-programmable characters or pictographs.

The device features a character size of 12 x 18 pixels and supports character attributes like blinking and inverse display. It can display up to 16 rows and 30 characters, with selectable brightness by row. The MAX7456EUI+ includes sag compensation on the video-driver output and provides LOS, VSYNC, HSYNC, and clock outputs. It operates over an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.

This OSD generator is available in a 28-pin TSSOP package with an exposed pad and is suitable for surface mount applications. It communicates via an SPI-compatible serial interface and is delivered with a preprogrammed character set, which can be reprogrammed in-circuit. Applications include security switching systems, security cameras, industrial applications, and in-cabin entertainment.
