The MAX7300AAX+ is a compact, serial-interfaced I/O expansion peripheral from Analog Devices, providing microprocessors with up to 28 ports. Each port is individually configurable as either a logic input or a logic output. The ports can function as push-pull logic outputs capable of sinking 10mA and sourcing 4.5mA, or as Schmitt logic inputs with optional internal pull-up resistors.
This device supports a 400kbps I2C-compatible 2-wire serial interface and operates within a voltage range of 2.5V to 5.5V. It is designed for a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. Seven ports feature configurable transition detection logic, which generates an interrupt upon a change in port logic level. The MAX7300AAX+ is available in a 36-pin SSOP package, suitable for surface mount applications.
Applications for this I/O expander include white goods, industrial controllers, and system monitoring. Its flexibility in port configuration and interrupt generation makes it a valuable component for expanding microcontroller capabilities in various embedded systems.
