MAX6957AAX+

The MAX6957AAX+ is a versatile LED display driver and general-purpose I/O (GPIO) peripheral from Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated. It features a high-speed 26MHz SPI-compatible serial interface, allowing microprocessors to control up to 28 ports. Each port can be individually configured as a logic input, logic output, or a common-anode LED constant-current segment driver.

When configured as an LED driver, each port acts as a digitally controlled constant-current sink with 16 programmable current steps, ranging from 1.5mA to 24mA. This capability makes it suitable for driving discrete LEDs as well as common-anode numeric and alphanumeric LED digits. As a GPIO, each port can function as a push-pull logic output capable of sinking 10mA and sourcing 4.5mA, or as a Schmitt logic input with an optional internal pull-up resistor.

Seven ports include configurable transition detection logic that can generate an interrupt upon a change in port logic level, enhancing system monitoring capabilities. The device operates over a wide voltage range of 2.5V to 5.5V and maintains functionality across an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. The MAX6957AAX+ is supplied in a 36-pin SSOP package, designed for surface mounting.
