MAX6957AAI+

The MAX6957AAI+ from Analog Devices is a versatile LED display driver and general-purpose I/O (GPIO) peripheral designed for microprocessor-controlled systems. This compact device provides up to 20 ports, each individually configurable as a logic input, logic output, or a common-anode LED constant-current segment driver. When configured as an LED driver, each port acts as a digitally controlled constant-current sink with 16 programmable current steps, ranging from 1.5mA to 24mA, suitable for discrete LEDs and common-anode numeric/alphanumeric displays.

As a GPIO peripheral, each port can function as a push-pull logic output capable of sinking 10mA and sourcing 4.5mA, or as a Schmitt logic input with an optional internal pullup. Seven ports feature configurable transition detection logic, which can generate an interrupt upon a change in port logic level. The MAX6957AAI+ communicates via a high-speed 26MHz SPI-compatible 4-wire serial interface.

Operating from 2.5V to 5.5V, this device is rated for an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. It is supplied in a 28-pin SSOP package, ideal for surface mounting. Applications include set-top boxes, panel meters, white goods, bar graph displays, industrial controllers, and system monitoring.

The MAX6957AAI+ features a low shutdown current of 11µA (max). Its individually programmable current control for each LED and logic transition detection for seven ports offer flexibility in design and operation.
