The MAX6955ATL+ is a compact LED display driver designed by Analog Devices, interfacing microprocessors to LED displays via an I2C-compatible 2-wire serial interface. It operates within a supply voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V and can drive up to 16 digits of 7-segment displays, 8 digits of 14-segment displays, 8 digits of 16-segment displays, or 128 discrete LEDs.
Key features include built-in ASCII fonts for 14- and 16-segment displays, a hexadecimal font for 7-segment displays, and 16-step digital brightness control for each digit. The device also incorporates five GPIO lines that can be configured as a key-switch reader, capable of scanning and debouncing up to 32 switches. It offers a low-power shutdown mode with data retention and slew-rate limited segment drivers to reduce EMI.
This display driver is available in a 40-TQFN (6x6) package, suitable for surface mount applications. Its operating temperature range is -40°C to 125°C, making it suitable for various environmental conditions. The MAX6955ATL+ simplifies the driving of LED displays in applications such as panel meters, bar graph displays, and white goods.
