MAX6950EEE+ Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The MAX6950EEE+ from Analog Devices is a serially interfaced LED display driver capable of driving up to five 7-segment digits or 40 discrete LEDs. It features a high-speed 26MHz SPI, QSPI, and MICROWIRE-compatible serial interface, allowing for efficient communication with microprocessors.

This device operates from a supply voltage of 2.7V to 5.5V. On-chip components include hexadecimal character decoders, multiplex scan circuitry, segment and digit drivers, and static RAM for digit storage. Users can select hexadecimal decoding or no-decode for each digit, enabling flexible control over various display types, including 7-segment digits, bar graphs, and discrete LEDs. The segment current is set by an internal digital brightness control, and the segment drivers are slew-rate limited to reduce EMI.

The MAX6950EEE+ offers individual LED segment control and segment blinking that can be synchronized across multiple drivers. It includes a low-power shutdown mode, consuming only 75µA while retaining data. The device is supplied in a compact 16-pin QSOP package, suitable for surface mounting.

Applications for the MAX6950EEE+ include panel meters, industrial controllers, instrumentation, professional audio equipment, and medical equipment.
