The MAX6921AQI+T is a 20-output, 76V vacuum fluorescent display (VFD) tube driver manufactured by Analog Devices (formerly Maxim Integrated). It is designed to interface multiplexed or static VFD tubes with microcontrollers or dedicated VFD controllers. The device utilizes an industry-standard 4-wire serial interface (CLOCK, DATA, LOAD, BLANK) for easy control.
Key electrical specifications include a logic supply range of 3V to 5.5V and a grid/anode supply range of 8V to 76V. The outputs can continuously source 40mA and sink 4mA, with the capability to source 75mA for repetitive pulses. The active-high BLANK input simplifies PWM intensity control by forcing all outputs low and enabling a shutdown mode. The MAX6921AQI+T operates within a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
This VFD driver is available in a 28-pin PLCC package, suitable for surface mounting. Its robust design makes it ideal for applications in automotive, industrial control, instrumentation, and telecom sectors. The MAX6921 series also includes variants with different output counts and features, such as the MAX6931 with a negative supply voltage input for simplified filament biasing.
