MAX6658MSA+T Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The MAX6658MSA+T is a precise, two-channel digital temperature sensor from Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated. It accurately measures the temperature of its own die and one remote PN junction, reporting the temperature in digital form via a 2-wire serial interface compatible with SMBus/I2C commands. The sensor operates across a wide temperature range of -55°C to +125°C for both local and remote measurements.

Key features include an 11-bit resolution with 0.125°C precision in extended mode and 1°C resolution when operating faster than 4Hz. The device offers programmable under/overtemperature alarms and a programmable conversion rate from 0.0625Hz to 16Hz, allowing for control of supply current and temperature update rates. It includes two alarm outputs: ALERT and OVERT1.

This sensor is housed in an 8-SOIC package and is designed for surface mounting. Its accuracy is ±1°C (max) from +60°C to +100°C for remote measurements, with no calibration required. The MAX6658MSA+T is suitable for applications such as desktop computers, workstations, notebook computers, and servers.

The supply voltage range is 3V to 5.5V. The sensor also features SMBus timeout for enhanced system reliability. The 8-SOIC package has a width of 3.90mm (0.154 inches).
