The MAX6656MEE is a precise voltage and temperature monitor from Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated. This digital thermometer reports temperature with 11-bit resolution, capable of measuring two remote sensors and its own die temperature. The remote sensors can be diode-connected transistors, offering high accuracy without calibration.
This device also measures supply voltage and three external voltages with 8-bit resolution. It operates on a +3.3V supply and monitors a 5V second voltage. The 2-wire serial interface supports standard SMBus commands for programming alarm thresholds and reading data. It includes SMBus alert response and timeout functions, with a programmable conversion rate to control supply current.
The MAX6656MEE features an OVERT output for fan control or system shutdown, active when temperature exceeds the maximum limit. It is suitable for applications such as notebooks, thin clients, servers, workstations, communication equipment, and desktop PCs.
Packaged in a 16-QSOP, the MAX6656MEE is designed for surface mount applications. Its operating temperature range is -55°C to 125°C, with an accuracy of ±1.5°C over specific conditions.
