The MAX6647MUA+ by Analog Devices is a precise, two-channel digital temperature sensor designed for accurate temperature monitoring. It measures both its own die temperature and the temperature of a remote PN junction, typically found on CPUs, FPGAs, or ASICs.
This sensor features a 2-wire SMBus-compatible interface for reading temperature data and programming alarm thresholds. It offers a wide operating temperature range of -55°C to 125°C and can measure temperatures from 0°C to 145°C. The remote temperature accuracy is ±1°C maximum between +60°C and +145°C, with local accuracy at ±2°C maximum from +60°C to +100°C. The resolution is 0.125°C.
Key features include two system alarms, ALERT and OVERT, which can be programmed for under/overtemperature conditions. The OVERT output is useful for activating cooling fans or triggering system shutdowns. Measurements can be performed autonomously at a programmable conversion rate or in a single-shot mode, allowing optimization of supply current and update rate.
The MAX6647MUA+ is available in an 8-pin uMAX package and supports surface mount installation. It operates from a supply voltage of 3V to 5.5V.
