The MAX6642ATT98+T by Analog Devices is a highly accurate, two-channel digital temperature sensor designed for precise temperature monitoring. It measures both its own die temperature and a remote PN junction, typically found in CPUs, ASICs, GPUs, or FPGAs, or a discrete diode-connected transistor.
This sensor communicates temperature data via a 2-wire serial interface, supporting standard SMBus commands. The temperature data format is 10-bit with a resolution of 0.25°C. It offers a remote accuracy of ±1°C between +60°C and +100°C, and local accuracy of ±2°C from +60°C to +100°C. The device operates within a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C and can measure remote temperatures from 0°C to +150°C.
Key features include dual-zone monitoring with programmable remote/local temperature thresholds and an ALERT output that asserts when overtemperature conditions are violated. The MAX6642ATT98+T is available in a compact 3mm x 3mm 6-pin TDFN package with an exposed pad, suitable for surface mounting. Its low thermal mass reduces measurement latency, making it ideal for applications requiring rapid temperature response.
Applications for this sensor include desktop computers, notebook computers, servers, thin clients, test and measurement equipment, workstations, and graphic cards where accurate and reliable temperature monitoring is critical for system performance and reliability.
