The MAX606EUA from Analog Devices is a highly integrated, low-profile step-up DC-DC converter optimized for space-constrained applications like flash memory and PCMCIA cards. It operates from an input voltage range of 3V to 5.5V, delivering a regulated output voltage of 5V, 12V, or an adjustable output from VIN to 12.5V.
This converter features a high switching frequency of up to 1MHz (for the MAX606 variant), enabling the use of small external components and a compact overall circuit size. It can supply up to 180mA of output current at 5V with a ±4% output accuracy. Additional features include a 1µA logic-controlled shutdown mode and user-controlled soft-start to manage inrush current.
The MAX606EUA is available in an 8-pin µMAX package, which offers a very low profile (1.11mm maximum height) and a small footprint, making it suitable for Type 1, 2, and 3 card standards. The surface-mount package facilitates automated assembly processes.
Key applications include PCMCIA cards, memory cards, digital cameras, and hand-held equipment where low height and compact size are critical design parameters.
