The MAX563CWN+ is a +3.3V-powered EIA/TIA-562 transceiver featuring two transmitters and two receivers. It is designed for battery-powered applications, offering compatibility with RS-232 transceivers while consuming significantly less power. This device guarantees an 116kbps data rate and maintains ±3.7V EIA/TIA-562 signal levels, making it suitable for applications like LapLink software.

 

An integrated charge pump converts the +3.3V supply to the ±6.6V required for EIA/TIA-562 output voltage levels. Only four 0.1µF charge-pump capacitors and a bypass capacitor are needed as external components. The receivers remain active in shutdown mode, allowing continuous monitoring of external signals such as modem ring indicators.

 

This transceiver is ideal for hand-held computers, battery-powered equipment, bar-code readers, and notebook computers. It is available in an 18-pin Wide SO package and supports surface mount installation. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 70°C.
