MAX5494ETE+ Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The MAX5494ETE+ is a 10-bit, dual, non-volatile, linear-taper digital potentiometer from Analog Devices, designed to replace mechanical potentiometers with a 3-wire SPI-compatible serial interface. It offers end-to-end resistance values of 10kΩ and 50kΩ, with a low end-to-end temperature coefficient of 35ppm/°C and a ratiometric temperature coefficient of 5ppm/°C.

This device operates with a single power supply from +2.7V to +5.25V or dual power supplies of ±2.5V. It features an internal non-volatile EEPROM that stores the wiper position for recall upon power-up. The SPI interface supports data rates up to 7MHz. The MAX5494ETE+ is available in a space-saving 16-pin TQFN package (5mm x 5mm x 0.8mm) and is specified for the extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.

Ideal applications include gain and offset adjustment, LCD contrast adjustment, pressure sensors, low-drift programmable-gain amplifiers, mechanical potentiometer replacement, and volume control. The device consumes a maximum of 400µA when writing data to non-volatile memory and a low standby current of 1.5µA.
