MAX534BEEE Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The MAX534BEEE is an 8-bit, serial-input, voltage-output, quad digital-to-analog converter (DAC) designed for single +4.5V to +5.5V supply operation. It features internal precision buffers that swing rail-to-rail and a reference input range that includes both ground and the positive rail. The device offers ultra-low supply current, consuming only 0.8mA while operating and dropping to 2.5µA in shutdown mode.

The serial interface is double buffered and compatible with SPI, QSPI, and Microwire standards, allowing for daisy chaining of devices via a buffered data output. The DAC registers can be updated independently or simultaneously. Additional control pins, LDAC and CLR, provide asynchronous hardware clear and simultaneous updating capabilities.

This DAC is available in a compact 16-pin QSOP package, occupying minimal board space. Its architecture is suitable for applications such as digital gain and offset adjustments, programmable attenuators, and programmable current sources, particularly in portable instruments.

Key electrical specifications include an 8-bit resolution, 4 DAC channels, a typical settling time of 8µs, and an external reference type. The operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C, and it is available in a surface mountable 16-QSOP or 16-SSOP package.
