The MAX530ACAG from Analog Devices is a low-power, 12-bit, voltage-output digital-to-analog converter (DAC). It operates from a single +5V supply or dual ±5V supplies and includes an on-chip voltage reference and an output buffer amplifier. With an operating current of only 250µA from a single +5V supply, it is well-suited for portable and battery-powered applications.
This DAC offers 12-bit resolution achieved through laser trimming. Internal gain-setting resistors allow for output voltage ranges of 0V to +2.048V, 0V to +4.096V, or ±2.048V. It supports four-quadrant multiplication without external components. The parallel logic inputs are double-buffered and compatible with 4-bit, 8-bit, and 16-bit microprocessors.
The MAX530ACAG features a relative accuracy of ±1/2 LSB max over temperature and is guaranteed monotonic over temperature. It also includes a power-on reset function. The device is housed in a compact 24-SSOP package, minimizing board space.
Applications for the MAX530ACAG include battery-powered data-conversion products, minimum component-count analog systems, digital offset/gain adjustment, industrial process control, arbitrary function generators, automatic test equipment, and microprocessor-controlled calibration.
