The MAX5258EEE+ is an 8-bit octal digital-to-analog converter (DAC) from Analog Devices, designed for single-supply operation from +2.7V to +5.5V. This device features internal precision buffers that swing Rail-to-Rail, and its reference input range extends from ground to the positive supply.
Key electrical specifications include a low supply current of 1.3mA and a low-power shutdown mode with a maximum current of 0.45µA. The DAC offers ±1 LSB maximum differential nonlinearity (DNL) and ±1 LSB maximum integral nonlinearity (INL). It has a typical settling time of 10µs.
The serial interface is double-buffered and compatible with SPI, QSPI, and MICROWIRE standards, operating at up to 10MHz. A buffered digital data output allows for daisy-chaining of serial devices. The MAX5258EEE+ is housed in an ultra-small 16-pin QSOP package and is designed for surface mounting.
Applications for this DAC include digital gain and offset adjustment, programmable attenuators, programmable current sources, and portable instruments.
