MAX522CSA Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The MAX522CSA is a dual, 8-bit, buffered, voltage-output digital-to-analog converter (DAC) designed for applications requiring precise voltage control. It operates from a single supply voltage ranging from +2.7V to +5.5V, making it suitable for portable and battery-powered devices.

This DAC utilizes a 3-wire serial interface compatible with SPI, QSPI, and Microwire standards, supporting clock rates up to 5MHz. The device offers two independent DAC channels, DAC A and DAC B, with buffered voltage outputs. DAC A's buffer can source and sink 5mA, while DAC B's output can source and sink 500µA.

With ultra-low power consumption, the MAX522CSA draws less than 1mA during operation and drops below 1µA in shutdown mode. The reference input is disconnected in shutdown mode to further reduce power consumption. The DAC is housed in a space-saving 8-pin SO package, ideal for designs with limited board space.

Key applications include digital gain and offset adjustment, programmable current and voltage sources, and power-amp bias control. The settling time is typically 70µs.
