The MAX5216BGUA+ is a 16-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) from Analog Devices Inc./Maxim Integrated, designed for low-power applications. This single-channel, buffered voltage-output DAC operates with a supply voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V, consuming minimal power.
It utilizes a 3-wire SPI-/QSPI™-/MICROWIRE-/DSP-compatible serial interface, which helps save board space and reduce complexity. The device features a precision external reference input for rail-to-rail operation. The digital noise feedthrough is minimized by powering down SCLK and DIN input buffers after each serial input frame.
On power-up, the MAX5216BGUA+ resets the DAC output to zero, providing safety for applications driving transducers. The DAC output is buffered, resulting in low supply current and a low offset error. An asynchronous clear pin is available to reset the DAC output to zero.
This DAC is available in an ultra-small 8-pin µMAX package (3mm x 5mm) and is specified for an extended industrial temperature range of -40°C to +105°C. It is suitable for various applications including communication systems, power amplifier control, process control, and portable instrumentation.
The MAX5216BGUA+ has a resolution of 16 bits.
The supply voltage range is 2.7V to 5.5V.
It supports SPI and DSP interfaces.
The operating temperature range is -40°C to 105°C.
It uses an external reference type.
The settling time is 18µs (Typ).
It is available in an 8-uMAX/uSOP package and also in 8-TSSOP, 8-MSOP (0.118", 3.00mm Width) packages.
