The MAX5150AEEE is a dual 13-bit Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) from Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated, designed for low-power applications. It operates from a single +5V supply and offers a Rail-to-Rail output swing, maximizing dynamic range with an internal gain of +2. The device features a 16µs settling time and consumes only 500µA during normal operation, with a shutdown mode drawing just 2µA.
This DAC utilizes a 3-wire serial interface compatible with SPI, QSPI, and Microwire standards. Each DAC has a double-buffered input, allowing independent or simultaneous updates with a 16-bit serial word. Additional features include programmable shutdown, hardware-shutdown lockout, a separate reference voltage input for each DAC, and an active-low clear input that resets all registers and DACs to zero. The MAX5150AEEE is available in a space-saving 16-pin QSOP package, suitable for surface mount applications.
Applications for the MAX5150AEEE include industrial process control, remote industrial controls, digital offset and gain adjustment, microprocessor-controlled systems, motion control, and automatic test equipment (ATE). Its combination of low power consumption, high resolution, and serial interface makes it a versatile choice for various embedded systems.
