The MAX5099ATJ+ from Analog Devices is a high-switching-frequency DC-DC buck converter offering dual outputs. It integrates high-side switches and drivers for external synchronous-rectifier MOSFETs. Converter 1 supports up to 2A output current, while Converter 2 supports up to 1A. This device is designed for automotive applications, featuring integrated load-dump protection capable of handling transients up to 80V.
The DC-DC converter operates over a wide 4.5V to 19V input voltage range. It utilizes voltage-mode control and external compensation for stable operation and optimized transient response. The switching frequency is adjustable from 200kHz to 2.2MHz, allowing trade-offs between component size, efficiency, and cost. The high switching frequency also enables operation outside the AM band.
Additional features include internal digital soft-start, individual enable inputs (EN1, EN2), open-drain power-good outputs (PGOOD1, PGOOD2), and a shutdown input (ON/OFF). The MAX5099ATJ+ also incorporates overvoltage protection, short-circuit protection (hiccup current limit), and thermal protection. It is available in a thermally enhanced, exposed pad 32-pin TQFN package, operating within an automotive temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
