The MAX4951CCTP+ is a dual-channel buffer designed to redrive internal SATA 1i, 2i, and 3i signals, as well as eSATA 1m and 2m signals. It operates from a single +3.3V supply and supports data rates up to 6Gbps, ensuring SATA specification version 3.0 compliance. The device features input equalization and selectable output preemphasis to preserve signal integrity over longer trace lengths.
Key features include high ESD protection (±8kV HBM), on-chip 50Ω input/output termination, and advanced power management. Hardware SATA-drive cable detection automatically places the device into a low-power standby mode consuming less than 20µA (typ). An independent channel dynamic power-down mode further reduces consumption when idle. The redriver maintains output common-mode levels and prevents delays when exiting low-power modes.
This redriver is ideal for overcoming board losses and guaranteeing SATA compliance. It is available in a compact 4mm x 4mm TQFN package with flow-through traces for ease of layout. The device is specified for a commercial operating temperature range of 0°C to +70°C.
