The MAX483EESA+ is a low-power transceiver designed for RS-485 and RS-422 communication applications. It features a single driver and receiver, operating from a single +5V supply with a voltage range of 4.75V to 5.25V. This device supports data transmission up to 250kbps, with reduced slew-rate drivers to minimize EMI and reduce reflections caused by improperly terminated cables.
Each driver output and receiver input is protected against ±15kV electrostatic discharge (ESD) shocks without latchup. The transceiver draws as little as 120µA supply current when unloaded or fully loaded with disabled drivers. It also includes a low-current shutdown mode consuming only 0.5µA. Drivers are short-circuit current limited and protected by thermal shutdown circuitry.
