The MAX483CPA+ from Analog Devices is an enhanced low EMI half-duplex transceiver that meets the specifications of RS-485 and RS-422 serial protocols. It features improved ESD performance with tolerances over ±15kV for the human body model and IEC61000-4-2 air discharge method.
This device utilizes Exar's BiCMOS design for low power operation without sacrificing performance. It is internally slew rate limited to reduce EMI and can meet RS-485 and RS-422 requirements up to 250kbps. The transceiver also includes a low power shutdown mode, consuming only 1µA.
Designed for multi-drop applications and long-distance interfaces, the RS-485 standard allows up to 32 drivers and 32 receivers. The MAX483CPA+ is housed in a DIP-8 package and is designed for through-hole mounting.
Key electrical characteristics include a supply voltage range of 4.75V to 5.25V, a typical supply current of 900 µA, and a data rate of 250kbps. The operating temperature range is 0℃ to 70℃.
