The MAX4820ETP+ by Analog Devices is an 8-channel relay driver IC designed to efficiently drive +3.3V and +5V relays, including non-latching and dual-coil-latching types. It offers built-in kickback protection, making it suitable for applications requiring reliable relay actuation.
Each of the eight independent open-drain outputs is guaranteed to sink a minimum of 70mA load current and features a low 2 Ohm on-resistance. The device operates over a voltage range of 2.3V to 5.5V and consumes a low quiescent current of less than 50µA, with 1µA output off-leakage current.
The MAX4820ETP+ utilizes an SPI-compatible serial interface for control. Input data is shifted into an 8-bit shift register and latched to the outputs upon CS transition. It also includes separate SET and RESET functions for simultaneous control of all outputs. Built-in hysteresis on digital inputs accommodates slow-moving signals.
