The MAX40200ANS+T is an ideal diode current switch designed by Maxim Integrated to provide superior performance compared to Schottky diodes, with significantly lower voltage drop. When forward-biased and enabled, it conducts with as little as 85mV at 1A, and a typical voltage drop of 43mV at 500mA. This low voltage drop is crucial for conserving battery life in portable applications.
This device operates over a supply voltage range of 1.5V to 5.5V and features thermal protection to safeguard downstream circuitry. When disabled, it blocks voltages up to 6V in either direction, making it suitable for various low-voltage portable electronics. The MAX40200 is available in a tiny 0.73mm x 0.73mm 4-bump wafer-level package (WLP) and a 5-pin SOT-23 package.
Key features include low reverse leakage current (70nA typical) and low supply quiescent current (7µA typical), further contributing to power efficiency. The MAX40200 operates across an extended temperature range of -40°C to +125°C, making it robust for demanding environments. Its applications span notebook computers, portable media players, cellular phones, wearable medical devices, and USB-powered peripherals.
