The MAX3845UCQ+TD from Analog Devices (formerly Maxim Integrated) is a TMDS 2-to-4 fanout switch and cable driver designed for multimonitor distribution of DVI or HDMI signaling. It supports data rates up to 1.65Gbps, suitable for resolutions up to UXGA or 1080p/60.

 

This device features two DVI/HDMI TMDS-compatible inputs and four TMDS-compatible outputs. Each output can be independently sourced from either input or turned off to save power. The TMDS inputs and outputs consist of four differential channels that can be arbitrarily assigned to data signals and the 1/10th-rate clock. Selectable output preemphasis is included, extending output cable reach by up to an additional 7 meters.

 

Typical applications include multiroom display of the same video source, industrial/commercial signage, PC monitor distribution, and home A/V receivers. The MAX3845UCQ+TD is available in a 100-pin TQFP-EP package with an exposed paddle for heat sinking. It operates over a temperature range of -10°C to +85°C and requires a 3.3V power supply.

 

For DDC switching, the companion MAX4814E is recommended. This part is compliant with HDMI 1.3 standards.
