MAX3535ECWI

The MAX3535ECWI from Analog Devices (formerly Maxim Integrated) is a full-duplex isolated RS-485/RS-422 transceiver. It provides 2500VRMS of galvanic isolation between the RS-485/RS-422 side and the processor or control logic side, enabling fast 1000kbps communication across an isolation barrier even with large differences in common-mode voltages.

This transceiver integrates a differential driver and receiver, along with circuitry to transmit signals across the isolation barrier using on-chip high-voltage capacitors. It features a 1/8 unit receiver load, allowing up to 256 devices on the same bus. The device includes true fail-safe circuitry and protection against ±15kV electrostatic discharge (ESD) on the interface side.

Key features include pin-selectable slew-rate limiting to minimize EMI, hot-swap capability, isolation-barrier fault detection, undervoltage lockout, and short-circuit/thermal protection. The MAX3535ECWI is available in a 28-SOIC surface mount package and operates over a temperature range of 0°C to 70°C.

Applications for this transceiver include isolated RS-485 systems, systems with large common-mode voltages, industrial-control local area networks, and telecommunications systems.
