MAX3430ESA+

The MAX3430ESA+ is a fault-protected RS-485 transceiver designed for robust communication in demanding environments. It features ±80V protection against overvoltage signal faults on communication bus lines, ensuring device integrity even during fault conditions. Operating from a 3.3V supply, this transceiver supports data rates up to 250kbps with internal slew-rate limiting to minimize EMI and reduce reflections.

With a 1/4-unit-load receiver input impedance, the MAX3430ESA+ allows for up to 128 transceivers on a single bus. It includes true fail-safe circuitry, guaranteeing a logic-high receiver output when inputs are open, and hot-swap circuitry to prevent false transitions during initialization or connection. The device is available in an 8-pin SOIC package and is specified for industrial temperature ranges.

Key features include ±12kV ESD protection, a -7V to +12V common-mode input voltage range, and integrated short-circuit current limiting and thermal-shutdown protection. These characteristics make it suitable for applications such as RS-422/RS-485 communications, lighting systems, industrial-control local area networks, Profibus applications, and multimaster RS-485 networks.
