The MAX3386ECUP is a 3.0V-powered EIA/TIA-232 transceiver designed for low power requirements and high data-rate capabilities. It features enhanced electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection on its inputs and outputs, rated up to ±25kV using the IEC 1000-4-2 Air-Gap Discharge method.

 

This transceiver includes two receivers and three transmitters, supporting full duplex communication. It operates from a 3.0V to 5.5V supply and can achieve data rates up to 250kbps while maintaining RS-232 compliant output levels. The device also features a low 300µA supply current and a 1µA low-power shutdown mode.

 

Available in a space-saving 20-TSSOP package, the MAX3386ECUP is suitable for applications such as subnotebook computers, PDAs, cell phone data cables, and other battery-powered or hand-held equipment. Its VL pin allows for interoperability in mixed-logic voltage systems, with programmable input and output logic levels.
