The MAX3263CAG is a complete, easy-to-program, single +5V-powered laser diode driver operating at 155Mbps. It accepts differential PECL inputs and provides complementary output currents. A temperature-stabilized reference voltage simplifies laser current programming, allowing modulation current up to 30mA and bias current up to 60mA with two external resistors.
This device features an automatic power control (APC) circuit to maintain constant laser power, requiring only two external resistors. The fully integrated feature set includes a TTL-compatible laser failure indicator and a programmable slow-start circuit to prevent laser damage. The slow-start is preset to 50ns and can be extended by adding an external capacitor.
Applications include 155Mbps SDH/SONET and 155Mbps ATM transmitters. The MAX3263CAG is supplied in a 24-SSOP package and is designed for surface mount applications. It operates within a temperature range of 0°C to 70°C and requires a supply voltage between 4.75V and 5.25V.
