The MAX3225ECAP is a 3V-powered EIA/TIA-232 communications interface from Maxim Integrated. It incorporates automatic shutdown and wakeup features, high data-rate capabilities, and enhanced electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection.

 

This transceiver offers true RS-232 performance from a +3.0V to +5.5V supply. It achieves a low 1μA supply current using Maxim's AutoShutdown Plus feature, which automatically enters a low-power shutdown mode when the RS-232 cable is disconnected or peripherals are inactive. The device turns on again when it senses a valid transition at any transmitter or receiver input.

 

The MAX3225E series guarantees 1Mbps operation for high-speed applications. All transmitter outputs and receiver inputs are protected to ±15kV using IEC 1000-4-2 Air-Gap Discharge, ±8kV using IEC 1000-4-2 Contact Discharge, and ±15kV using the Human Body Model.

 

Available in space-saving TQFN, SSOP, and TSSOP packages, the MAX3225ECAP is suitable for battery-powered equipment, notebook computers, and cellular phones.
