MAX3162EAI+T

The MAX3162EAI+T is a versatile multiprotocol transceiver from Analog Devices, designed for applications requiring RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 communication. It operates over a wide voltage range of +3V to +5.5V and supports simultaneous 2TX/2RX RS-232 and half-duplex RS-485 transceiver operation.

This transceiver features pin-selectable slew rates for both RS-232 and RS-485 modes, minimizing EMI and reducing reflections for error-free data transmission up to 250kbps. When slew-rate limiting is disabled, it can achieve data rates up to 10Mbps in RS-485 mode and up to 1Mbps in RS-232 mode. The device is built with integrated charge-pump circuitry, eliminating the need for a bipolar ±12V supply and enabling single-supply operation.

Designed for robustness, the MAX3162EAI+T includes protection against wiring faults, short-circuit protection over the entire common-mode voltage range, and thermal protection. Its true fail-safe receiver prevents false transitions on receiver input shorts or opens. The device is available in a compact 28-SSOP package, suitable for surface mounting, and operates across an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
