The MAX3161EAG+T is a programmable multiprotocol transceiver designed for flexible interface applications. It supports RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 communication standards, operating from a single +3V to +5.5V power supply. This device features pin-selectable slew rates for both RS-232 and RS-485 modes, allowing for error-free data transmission up to 250kbps with slew-rate limiting, or up to 10Mbps in RS-485 mode and 1Mbps in RS-232 mode when slew-rate limiting is disabled.
Designed for robustness, the MAX3161EAG+T includes integrated protection for transmitters and receivers against wiring faults, short-circuit protection, and thermal protection. It also features a true fail-safe receiver to prevent false transitions on open or shorted receiver inputs. The transceiver operates over an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
Packaged in a compact 24-SSOP (0.209", 5.30mm Width) surface-mount configuration, this device is suitable for space-constrained designs. Its flow-through pinout facilitates easier board layout.
