MAX3157EAI+

The MAX3157EAI+ from Analog Devices (formerly Maxim Integrated) is a high Common-Mode Rejection Ratio (CMRR) RS-485 and RS-422 data communications interface. It provides ±50V of isolation, crucial for robust industrial and telecommunications applications.

This transceiver operates from a single +5V supply on the logic side, with external capacitors transferring power to the isolated side. It is guaranteed to operate at data rates up to 250kbps. The device includes a true fail-safe receiver, ensuring a logic high output when inputs are open, shorted, or terminated with all drivers disabled. Drivers are protected against short-circuit currents and excessive power dissipation via thermal shutdown circuitry.
