This device supports SPI/QSPI™/MICROWIRE®-compatible serial interfaces, saving microcontroller I/O pins and board space. It delivers true RS-232 performance down to VCC = +3V (for MAX3111E) and operates at data rates up to 230kbps while maintaining EIA/TIA-232 output voltage levels. The UART includes a programmable baud-rate generator and an 8-word receive FIFO.

 

With a low operating current of 600µA and a shutdown current of only 10µA with receivers active, the MAX3110EEWI is ideal for battery-powered equipment. It is suitable for applications such as Point-of-Sale (POS) devices, handy-terminals, telecom diagnostic ports, and industrial front-panel interfaces.
