The MAX3053ESA+T from Analog Devices is a CAN transceiver IC designed to interface between a CAN protocol controller and the physical bus lines. It supports data rates up to 2Mbps and provides ±80V fault protection against shorts to high-voltage power buses.
This transceiver features three operating modes: high-speed mode for up to 2Mbps, slope control mode for reduced EMI between 40kbps and 500kbps, and a low-current shutdown mode. An autoshutdown function activates when the device is inactive for 47ms or longer, reducing power consumption to 15μA. It also includes automatic wakeup from shutdown, thermal shutdown, and current limiting.
The MAX3053ESA+T is fully compatible with the ISO 11898 standard. It operates over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and is supplied in an 8-pin SOIC package with surface mountable gull-wing terminals.
Applications include industrial control and networks, printers, HVAC controls, and 72V systems.
