The MAX20303BEWN+T from Analog Devices (Maxim Integrated) is a sophisticated power management integrated circuit tailored for ultra-low-power wearable devices and IoT applications. It is engineered to extend battery life and minimize solution size through high integration and efficiency.
The device features a flexible array of power-optimized voltage regulators, including multiple buck, boost, buck-boost, and linear regulators. These regulators boast very low quiescent currents, typically around 1µA, which is crucial for always-on applications. The MAX20303BEWN+T also incorporates a comprehensive battery management system, including battery sealing, charging with thermal management and input protection, power path control, and a fuel gauge.
Further enhancing its utility, the IC includes a programmable button controller, three integrated LED current sinks for indicators or backlighting, and an ERM/LRA driver for haptic feedback. Configuration and status monitoring are handled via an I²C interface, which also allows access to an integrated ADC for reading temperature and supply voltages.
This device is supplied in a compact 56-bump, 0.5mm pitch wafer-level package (WLP) measuring 3.71mm x 4.21mm. It operates across an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, making it suitable for demanding wearable environments.
