The MAX1971EEE+T is a dual-output, current-mode PWM buck regulator designed by Analog Devices. It operates from an input voltage range of 2.6V to 5.5V and can deliver a minimum of 750mA on each output. This device operates at a fixed switching frequency of 700kHz, which helps reduce the size and cost of external components like inductors and capacitors. The regulators switch 180° out-of-phase, further reducing input capacitor size and cost. Ceramic capacitors are suitable for both input and output.
The output voltages are programmable from 1.2V to VIN using external feedback resistors, or can be preset to specific values. Output accuracy is better than ±1% over variations in load, line, and temperature. The MAX1971 features internal soft-start to reduce inrush current during startup and includes a power-on reset (POR) function with a reset input (RSI) that forces POR low for 175ms after RSI goes low. This regulator is available in a 16-QSOP package and is designed for surface mount applications.
Key features include ±1% output accuracy, 750mA guaranteed output current, and operation outside the xDSL band. The ultra-compact design with small external components makes it suitable for applications requiring space efficiency. The device also includes a power-on reset delay of 175ms.
