MAX1875EEG Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The MAX1875EEG is a dual, synchronized, step-down PWM controller designed to generate two independent output voltages from input supplies ranging from 4.75V to 23V. Each output is adjustable from sub-1V to 18V and can support loads of 10A or higher. The controller utilizes synchronized 180° out-of-phase operation to reduce input voltage ripple and total RMS input ripple current.

The switching frequency is adjustable from 100kHz to 600kHz via an external resistor, or the controller can be synchronized to an external clock. It features soft-start and soft-stop functionalities. The MAX1875/MAX1876 series eliminates the need for current-sense resistors by using the low-side MOSFET's on-resistance, protecting components during output overload or short-circuit conditions. An adjustable foldback current limit further reduces power dissipation during shorts.

This device is available in a 24-pin QSOP package, suitable for surface mount applications. Its features make it ideal for applications such as network power supplies, telecom power supplies, and power supplies for DSP, ASIC, and FPGA.

Key electrical specifications include an input voltage range of 4.75V to 23V, adjustable output voltage range of 0V to 18V, and adjustable switching frequency from 100kHz to 600kHz. The controller supports two outputs with 180° out-of-phase operation and offers features like current limit, enable, frequency control, and reset.
