The MAX186DEWP is a low-power, 8-channel, 12-bit serial Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) system designed by Analog Devices. It integrates a multiplexer, track/hold circuit, and a serial interface, offering high conversion speed and ultra-low power consumption.
This ADC supports single +5V or dual ±5V supply operation. The analog inputs are software configurable for unipolar/bipolar and single-ended/differential modes. It features a 4-wire serial interface compatible with SPI, QSPI, and MICROWIRE devices, and a serial strobe output for direct connection to TMS320 digital signal processors.
The MAX186DEWP operates with an internal clock or an external serial-interface clock, achieving conversion speeds up to 133kHz. The MAX186 variant includes an internal 4.096V reference, while the MAX188 requires an external reference. Both devices offer software-selectable power-down modes to reduce current consumption to under 10µA at reduced sampling rates.
Available in a 20-SOIC package, the MAX186DEWP is suitable for applications such as portable data logging, battery-powered instruments, and high-accuracy process control. Its surface mount capability makes it ideal for compact designs.
