The MAX186BCPP is a 12-bit data acquisition system from Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated, offering an 8-channel multiplexer, high-bandwidth track/hold, and a serial interface. It supports high conversion speeds and ultra-low power consumption, operating with single +5V or dual ±5V supplies. The analog inputs are software configurable for unipolar/bipolar and single-ended/differential operation.
This ADC features a 4-wire serial interface compatible with SPI, QSPI, and MICROWIRE devices, and a serial strobe output for direct connection to TMS320 digital signal processors. It can use an internal or external serial interface clock for successive-approximation conversions, with the serial interface operating beyond 4MHz when the internal clock is used. The MAX186BCPP includes an internal 4.096V reference and a reference-buffer amplifier.
Designed for low power consumption, it draws 1.5mA in operating mode and 2µA in power-down mode. The device provides a hard-wired SHDN pin and two software-selectable power-down modes. Accessing the serial interface automatically powers up the device, allowing it to be shut down between conversions to reduce supply current to under 10µA at reduced sampling rates.
