The MAX1864TEEE+ is a power supply controller designed for cost-conscious applications such as cable modem CPE, xDSL CPE, and set-top boxes. It operates from a low-cost, unregulated DC supply with an input voltage range of 4.5V to 28V.
This controller features a current-mode synchronous step-down controller and positive regulator gain blocks. The main step-down converter can generate a 3.3V preset output or be adjusted from 1.236V to 0.8 times the input voltage. The operating frequency is fixed at 100kHz or 200kHz, allowing for the use of low-cost components.
The MAX1864TEEE+ includes a power-good indicator and soft-start for all positive regulators. It is available in a 16-QSOP package and is surface-mountable. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C.
Applications for this device include xDSL, Cable, and ISDN Modems, and Set-Top Boxes.
