The MAX1847EEE+T is a high-efficiency, current-mode, PWM inverting controller designed for compact, low-noise, negative-output DC-DC converters. It supports an input voltage range of +3V to +16.5V and can generate output voltages from -500mV to -200V.
This controller features a constant-frequency PWM control scheme to minimize switching noise, with an operating frequency adjustable from 100kHz to 500kHz. It offers 90% efficiency and drives a high-side P-channel MOSFET. The MAX1847 variant includes clock synchronization and shutdown functions, and can be configured as an inverting flyback controller for higher power outputs.
Applications for this device include cellular base stations, networking equipment, optical networking, SLIC supplies, CO DSL line driver supplies, industrial power supplies, servers, and VOIP supplies. It is available in a 16-pin QSOP package suitable for surface mounting.
The device utilizes current-mode control for simplified compensation and good transient response, with accurate current-mode control and over-current protection achieved through low-side current sensing. It is compatible with both electrolytic and ceramic output capacitors.
