The MAX1830EEE+T is a constant-off-time, pulse-width-modulated (PWM) step-down DC-DC converter designed for low-voltage conversion in applications like notebook computers. It features internal synchronous rectification for high efficiency, eliminating the need for an external Schottky diode. The device integrates a 45mΩ PMOS power switch and a 55mΩ NMOS synchronous-rectifier switch, capable of delivering continuous load currents up to 3A.
This converter supports preset output voltages of +2.5V, +1.8V, or +1.5V, or an adjustable output from +1.1V to V_IN. It achieves efficiencies as high as 94% and operates with a programmable constant-off-time architecture, allowing switching frequencies up to 1MHz. The MAX1830EEE+T includes Idle Mode™ for light-load efficiency, internal digital soft-start for inrush current limiting, and a 100% duty cycle mode for low-dropout operation. A low-power shutdown mode reduces supply current to below 1µA.
The device is available in a 16-pin QSOP package and operates within an input voltage range of +3V to +5.5V. Its features include ±1.5% output accuracy, 750µA (max) operating supply current, and output short-circuit protection. The MAX1830EEE+T is suitable for 5V or 3.3V to low-voltage conversion, CPU I/O supplies, chipset supplies, and notebook and subnotebook computers.
