The MAX1811ESA is a single-cell lithium-ion battery charger designed by Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated. It can be powered directly from a USB port or an external supply up to 6.5V. This charger features a 0.5% overall battery regulation voltage accuracy, allowing for maximum utilization of the battery capacity.
It utilizes an internal FET to deliver up to 500mA charging current and can be configured for either a 4.1V or 4.2V battery using the SELV input. The SELI input sets the charge current to either 100mA or 500mA. An open-drain output (CHG) indicates the charge status. The device includes preconditioning for near-depleted cells, soft-starting them before full charging. Safety features include continuous monitoring of voltage and current, and initial fault condition checking.
The MAX1811ESA is available in a thermally enhanced 8-pin SO package, suitable for surface mounting. Its operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C. Applications include PDAs, digital still cameras, MP3 players, cell phones, and hand-held computers.
Key features include charging single-cell Li+ batteries directly from a USB port, minimal external components, and automatic IC thermal regulation. The package is an 8-SOIC with surface mount type.
