The MAX1790EUA+ is a low-noise, step-up DC-DC converter from Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated. It features current-mode, fixed-frequency PWM circuitry with a built-in n-channel MOSFET, providing a highly efficient regulator with fast response.
This device supports an input voltage range of 2.6V to 5.5V and can produce an adjustable output voltage from 2.6V up to 12V. It offers pin-selectable switching frequencies of 640kHz or 1.2MHz, allowing for easy filtering and faster loop performance. The MAX1790EUA+ boasts 90% efficiency and a low shutdown current of 0.1µA.
Designed for portable applications, LCD displays, and PCMCIA cards, the MAX1790EUA+ is available in a space-saving 8-pin µMAX package. Its high switching frequency and compact package enable a total solution height of less than 1.1mm.
The converter includes features like programmable soft-start for controlled input current ramp-up. The external compensation pin provides flexibility in determining loop dynamics, allowing the use of small, low ESR ceramic output capacitors.
