The MAX16977SATE+ is a 2A, current-mode, step-down converter featuring an integrated high-side switch. Designed for automotive and industrial applications, it supports a wide input voltage range of 3.5V to 36V, with tolerance for transients up to 42V. The device consumes only 30µA quiescent current at no load and features a low shutdown current of 5µA.
This converter offers flexibility with a pin-selectable output voltage, providing either a fixed 5V or an adjustable output from 1V to 10V. The switching frequency is adjustable from 1MHz to 2.2MHz via an external resistor and can be synchronized to an external clock. Protection features include overcurrent limit, overvoltage, undervoltage, and thermal shutdown with automatic recovery, along with a power-good monitor for power-supply sequencing.
The MAX16977SATE+ operates within an automotive temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. It is available in 16-pin TSSOP and 5mm x 5mm TQFN packages with exposed pads, suitable for surface mounting.
