The MAX1680ESA+ is an inductorless switched-capacitor voltage converter from Analog Devices, capable of inverting or doubling the input voltage. It can supply up to 125mA output current with an equivalent output resistance of typically 3.5Ω. The device features selectable switching frequencies of 125kHz and 250kHz, allowing the use of small capacitors like 4.7µF for the MAX1680.
This charge-pump device is suitable as a replacement for inductor-based regulators, saving board space and reducing component costs. It operates within an input voltage range of +2.0V to +5.5V and is available in an 8-pin SO package. A logic-controlled shutdown feature reduces quiescent current to less than 1µA.
Applications include local negative supplies, interface power supplies, op-amp power supplies, and MOSFET bias. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C (TA).
