The MAX1675EUA+T from Analog Devices is a compact and highly efficient step-up DC-DC converter designed for applications requiring a voltage boost. It operates with an input voltage range starting from 0.7V, with start-up guaranteed from 1.1V inputs. The output voltage is adjustable from 2V to 5.5V, with preset options for 3.3V or 5V, and can deliver up to 360mA of current.
Key features include a low quiescent supply current of only 16µA and a logic-controlled shutdown mode that reduces current consumption to 0.1µA. The device incorporates an internal synchronous rectifier, eliminating the need for an external Schottky diode and improving efficiency and reducing component count. It boasts up to 94% efficiency at 200mA output current.
This converter is housed in a small 8-pin uMAX package, making it suitable for space-constrained designs. The mounting type is surface mount, facilitating integration into PCBs. Applications include pagers, wireless phones, medical devices, hand-held computers, PDAs, RF tags, and 1 to 3-cell hand-held devices.
The MAX1675EUA+T also includes a low-battery detector (LBI/LBO) and offers selectable current limit options for reduced ripple. Its 0.3 Ω N-channel MOSFET power switch contributes to its overall performance.
